Autumn Book Recommendations

"It's so strange that autumn is so beautiful yet everything is dying"

Hey Beautiful Readers!

I know it has been been quiet sometime since I last blogged but nevermind, because I am back with my book recommendations for THIS AUTUMN !

They say that autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons, when the leaves become flowers and the air smells of earth and fall apples.
It is the perfect season for beginnings and ends.
The season when we expect our lives to change in unfathomable ways.

The perfect YA-Books’ season !

Which brings me to the 3 books I’ve picked up for this season that engulfs us in maple leaves and apple pies equivalent.

1. LOBSTERS : Tom Ellen & Lucy Ivison

91ahebBGqPL

Sam and Hannah. Our Awkward Virgin protagonists. One Summer. To change their lives.
This is a typical British Mean Girls in a book format.
I don’t know many people who liked this book but, I really appreciate the lightness and quirkiness of this book.
It’s funny and awkward and silly and talks about the bittersweet things that happens in a girl gang and how everyone is keeping a score with casual hook ups and deals with sexual frankness and how boys feel as they get through high school without finding a love interest and everything I would pick up on a nice lazy day to have a good time.
This isn’t something that will leave you in tears or thinking about life but definitely helps a high school-er understand the variation one experiences and IT’S HYSTERICAL (Only if you get the British-references)

My Goodreads Rating : 3/5

 2. ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES : Jenifer Niven

This “Goodreads Choice Award 2015” winner is by far the best book I’ve read under Young Adult Fiction.
Two broken teenagers – Theodore Finch & Violet Markey, who meet at the ledge of the bell tower from where their uniquely remarkably journey begins.
The book deals with what almost every high school kid goes through – bullying, depression, that dark feeling of losing oneself, dealing with both shitty and supportive parents, the kinda love that makes you wanna live, anger issues, big dreams, importance of friendship, “wandering” (you’ll get it once you read the book) and most importantly, what circumstances leads to suicidal thoughts and committing the same and about the lives of the people one leaves behind.
This book is both dark and light, and as our male protagonist Theodore finch puts it, “All the colours in one, at full brightness”.
If you love John Green, Jay Asher, Rainbow Rowell or Gayle Forman – This.Is.Your.Read!

My Goodreads Rating : 5/5

3. PLAYLIST FOR THE DEAD : Michelle Falkoff

A bestfriend’s death leaves the other one confusingly shattered. It was a suicide. A playlist of songs that helps unfold the reasons behind his death (or, maybe not so much)
If you think this is ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’, you are absolutely correct!
Except no “Hannah Baker, live and in stereo” but 27 amazing songs by various artists.
The book is a 2015 debut novel by Michelle Falkoff and therefore, I expect you not to keep your hopes high when you are reading it.
The story is very simply laid out and definitely talks about  how bullying leads to depression and several aspects about how to move on after someone you love has committed suicide but there are alot of things that remains unexplained in the book.
Nevertheless, it is some book one should pick up if you like books by Jay Asher or Gayle Forman.

My Goodreads Rating : 2.7/5
